Pre-saving your most commonly used package types helps streamline your workflow by applying preset dimensions and weights automatically during the shipping process. This reduces manual entry, improves rate accuracy, and saves valuable time.
Step-by-Step: How to Set Up Packages
1. Navigate to Package Settings
- From the eHub Ship dashboard, click Settings in the left-hand menu.
- Under Account, select Packages.
2. Add a New Package
You can either:
-
Click the blue plus sign in the top-right corner
-
Or scroll to the bottom of the listand click + Add New Package
3. Enter Package Information
Fill in the following fields to define your package:
-
Package Name: Choose a clear, descriptive name (e.g., “Small Box” or “Apparel Flat”).
-
Package Type: Select from predefined types like Box, Flat Rate, Envelope, etc.
Tip: If you’re using a poly mailer and want to access USPS soft pack cubic rates, choose “Soft-Pack.”
-
Dimensions: Enter the length, width, and height (in inches).
-
While optional, dimensions help ensure accurate rates and reduce carrier adjustments.
-
For envelopes or poly mailers, enter a height of 1 inch to reflect their flexible profile.
-
Note: Dimensions aren’t needed for USPS flat rate boxes—they’re pre-configured.
-
-
Additional Weight: Enter the weight of the empty packaging. This will be added to the item weight.
-
Total Weight: Use this to override the order’s total weight if it’s always the same.
Once all required fields are complete, click Save. Your new package will now be available during the shipping process.
Using Pre-Saved Packages
Once your packages are added:
-
Simply select the saved package from the dropdown when shipping.
-
Dimensions and weight will auto-fill based on your saved settings.
This makes processing faster and reduces errors—especially useful for high-volume shipping.
