How to Find Your UPS Credentials

Overview / Summary

This article explains how to create a UPS Developer account and generate the API credentials (Client ID and Client Secret) needed to integrate your UPS account with eHub. This guide is intended for 3PL operators and brand administrators who want to use their own UPS account and negotiated rates through eHub's shipping platform.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • An active UPS account with shipping privileges
  • A valid email address for account verification
  • Your business information ready (company name, address, etc.)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Create an Account with the UPS Developer Portal

  1. Go to the UPS Developer Portal
  2. Click Sign Up in the upper right corner
  3. Fill out the registration form with your information
  4. Review and accept the Terms of Service
  5. Click Create Account
  6. Check your email for a verification message from UPS and click the link to verify your account
  7. Once verified, log in to the UPS Developer Portal

Step 2: Create an App and Get Your Credentials

  1. Once logged in, click Apps in the top navigation menu
  2. Click Create an App
  3. Fill in the following required fields:
    • App Name - Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "eHub Integration")
    • Description - Briefly describe the app's purpose (e.g., "Integration with eHub shipping platform")
    • Redirect URI - Enter: [EHUB_PLACEHOLDER_URL]
  4. Under Products, select the UPS APIs you need for your integration:
    • Rating (for rate shopping)
    • Shipping (for label generation)
    • Select any other products relevant to your needs
  5. Review your app details
  6. Click Create App
  7. Your Client ID and Client Secret will be displayed on the screen
  8. Important: Copy and securely save both credentials immediately. The Client Secret will not be shown again for security reasons.

Expected Outcome

After completing these steps, you will have:

  • An active UPS Developer Portal account
  • A registered application with eHub's Redirect URL
  • Your Client ID and Client Secret credentials

These credentials are now ready to be used when connecting your UPS account to eHub.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: I didn't save my Client Secret and can't see it anymore.
A: For security reasons, UPS only displays the Client Secret once. You'll need to generate new credentials by creating a new app in the UPS Developer Portal.

Q: My email verification link expired.
A: Return to the UPS Developer Portal sign-up page and request a new verification email.

Q: What should I name my app?
A: Choose a descriptive name that helps you identify the purpose, such as "eHub Integration" or "[Your Company Name] eHub Connection."

Q: Which UPS API products should I select?
A: At minimum, select Rating and Shipping. You may add other products based on your specific shipping needs.

Q: Can I use the same credentials for multiple eHub accounts?
A: Each eHub account should have its own unique UPS application for security and tracking purposes. Create separate apps in the UPS Developer Portal for each eHub account.
