Inventory tracking is essential for running a successful business. It allows you to monitor stock levels, prevent overselling, and make informed inventory decisions.
Follow the steps below to begin tracking inventory in eHub:
1. Upload Inventory via CSV File
Start by uploading your existing inventory using a CSV file.
Only the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is required, but you can include any of the following columns (in any order, as you'll map them during the upload):
- SKU*
- Product Name
- Description
- Image URL
- HS Code (Harmonized System Code)
- Country of Origin
- Barcodes
- Hazmat Type
- SKU Alias
- Pick Sequence
- Price
- Weight (oz)
- Weight (lbs)
- Length (in)
- Width (in)
- Height (in)
- Retail Price
- Location
- On Hand Count (Quantity)
Once your CSV is ready, upload it into the inventory tracking system.
For detailed upload instructions, refer to this article: https://knowledge.ehub.com/importing-products-in-ehub-ship
2. Disable Inventory Tracking (Product Level)
For products that don’t require inventory tracking (e.g., digital goods):
- Go to the Inventory section
- Select the product
- Click the Location tab
- Toggle the Track Inventory slider to off (it will turn grey)
3. Verify Inventory Accuracy
After uploading your inventory:
- Cross-check inventory levels against physical stock
- Review data for accuracy
- Check for any discrepancies with your accounting or POS systems
4. Enable Inventory Tracking at the Store Level
Enable inventory tracking for supported ecommerce platforms to keep inventory counts synced and avoid overselling.
Supported stores include:
- BigCommerce
- Cart Rover (and integrations through Cart Rover)
- eBay
- Magento
- Shopify
- Squarespace
- Square
- Walmart
- WooCommerce
5. Configure Error Handling Options
Go to Settings > Inventory Configurations to choose how the system should respond when inventory is below zero:
- Do Not Allow – Prevent label creation if inventory is negative
- Allow Shipment – Always allow label creation, even with negative inventory
- Allow Shipment with Admin Override – Require admin approval to proceed with negative inventory
6. Enable Inventory Tracking at the Account Level
Once everything is set up, activate inventory tracking:
- Go to Settings > Inventory Configurations
- Set Inventory Tracking to Enabled
